Afsaneh Nasrabadi
Ph.D in Geophysics

Afsaneh Nasrabadi is a dedicated and experienced seismologist with over a decade of expertise in earthquake seismology, seismic data processing, and seismic hazard risk assessment. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor’s in Physics from the University of Tehran, followed by a Master’s and Ph.D. in Geophysics from prestigious Iranian institutions. Throughout her career, she has extensively studied the Earth’s crustal structure, contributing to significant research projects funded by the Iran National Science Foundation and other reputable bodies. Her technical proficiency includes a solid command of various analytical tools and software like Matlab, SAC, Seisan, and OpenQuake, which she has adeptly utilized in seismic data analysis and earthquake early warning systems. Afsaneh’s commitment to scientific research is further demonstrated through her active participation in preparing earthquake catalogs and her contributions to numerous journal publications on topics such as Moho depth variations and crustal velocity structure.
In her professional roles at the Graduate University of Advanced Technology in Kerman and Lorestan University, Afsaneh has been instrumental in conducting seismic hazard assessments and advancing research methodologies. She has also embraced her responsibilities as a faculty member, engaging in teaching, curriculum development, and supervising graduate research projects. Her collaborative spirit and dedication to research have led to a deeper understanding of seismic phenomena and geological processes.
